The Needham Board of Assessors on June 26, 2025 approved 15 property tax abatements and denied 21 abatement applications after convening an executive session, Chair John Bolligan said at the start of the meeting.
The board said it entered executive session under the Open Meeting Law to consider exemption and abatement applications that are not open to public inspection, returns for property held for charitable purposes, and to discuss litigation strategy affecting the town’s position. The meeting was held by Zoom and recorded for later viewing, Bolligan said.
The actions reported when the board returned to open session covered more than three dozen addresses. The board approved abatements for addresses including 322 West Street, 103 Falcon Street, 751 Webster Street, 354 Honeywell Street and 628 Webster Street. The board denied applications for addresses including 50 Lynn Road, 199 Honeywell Street, 131 Jarvis Circle, 374 South Street and 1606 Great Plains Avenue.
No members of the public were on the call to comment, and the chair noted there were no public comments. A motion to enter executive session was moved and seconded and carried with an affirmative vote before the board took the abatement and denial actions.
The board scheduled follow-up meeting dates in July, with tentative times announced for a Wednesday in July at 9:30 a.m. and Thursday, July 3, at 9:30 a.m., and then adjourned.
