A Monroe resident asked the Township Council on Tuesday to help reinstate a Coach USA bus route between Monroe and Jersey City that stopped running after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Amit Shaligram (3 Iontal Court) told the council he collected about 95 signatures and ridership data via a neighborhood messaging group. He said the route previously ran twice daily—morning and evening—but Coach USA did not resume the service after the pandemic despite increased demand now. Shaligram asked the council to contact the carrier to request a trial restart of the route for three to four months to demonstrate sustained ridership.
Shaligram said he had shared the data with council members and township administration and that a local transportation committee had previously discussed the issue. Council members acknowledged receipt of the materials; no formal action or vote was recorded at the meeting. Staff and council members said the material had been shared with relevant council members for follow-up.
