Staff said the district had solicited bids in September and that the low bidder at the time (Industrial Fence) quoted $144,547. A new quote from Brady’s Fence of $92,232 represents a savings of $47,315; staff said Brady’s will reuse good fabric salvaged from Anderson High School, producing an additional $3,300 saving.
Staff described existing conditions: the softball field currently has no outfield fencing or foul poles and the baseball backstop is bowed and aging, posing a maintenance and safety concern. The district plans to complete work this summer so fields are available for fall play and community use. Staff also noted a longer‑term plan to build fields at Davidson, but said Gerrish remains valuable to the district and community and requires near‑term repairs.
The board approved the recommendation. Board members discussed whether to pursue larger redesigns, but staff said the current work addresses urgent safety and maintenance needs and preserves field availability.
