District staff presented results of sealed bids for replacement of hallway lockers at Davidson Middle Academy and asked the board to approve funding to award the contract.
Staff said sealed bids opened on May 30, 2025, covered 296 two-tier lockers including bases and tops. The recommended vendor was Steel Equipment Company with a base award of $49,000 plus a $10,000 contingency, and staff requested board approval of $59,000 to cover the full scope and contingency. Staff explained this was the second time lockers had been bid after earlier quotes showed wide variation when bundled with other scopes.
Board members asked whether Anderson High School and other buildings would also receive locker replacements; staff said Anderson’s lockers would be replaced this summer and that parts salvaged during that work would be used for repairs at other schools. A board member asked why Plant Moran (the district’s consultant) was not present; staff said Plant Moran handled the RFP and that the company representative was on vacation.
A motion to approve the purchase reached the board floor (moved by Dr. Pomponello, supported by Mr. Green) and was approved with an "aye" vote and no recorded opposition.
