Staff described growing student participation and the need for a permanent practice area. “Currently, many of their practices are unfortunately held in the cafeteria on older mats that are 15-ish years old,” a staff presenter said, noting that the new room would spare coaches from moving heavy mats through corridors each day.
Staff recommended Option 1 for floor mats (Resolite Independent Sales Pro), citing a three‑year warranty and higher quality; the presenter said Resolite will repair or replace damaged mat sections under the warranty. For wall padding staff recommended the second vendor (CNM Associates), citing accurate measurements and prior quality work; one competing vendor had undercounted required wall mats during measurement.
Board members discussed branding the room with a Titans logo. Staff said the logo would use district vector files and would be reviewed by the district before being painted on wall mats; cost estimates discussed in the meeting were approximately $1,200 for logo work. The board approved the project and authorized staff to proceed with Option 1 for floor mats and Option 2 for wall pads, with a total not to exceed $31,837.50.
Staff said the room will be used for middle‑school practice and as a potential site for future youth programs; the space is not large enough to host meets. Installation and logo approval will be coordinated through athletics and facilities staff.
