Council member urges Medical Lake residents to comment on $44 million county disaster-recovery plan

Council member Pritchard told the Medical Lake City Council on July 1 that Spokane County’s housing and community development disaster-recovery action plan — which the county says is funded at $44,000,000 — is open for public comment through July 14.
“Check it out. Throw your comments in there. They’ll open till July 14. $44,000,000, a lot of money,” Pritchard said. He encouraged residents to provide written comment and to sign up to testify at the Board of County Commissioners meeting; he said public testimony is possible at the commissioners’ July meeting and recommended people prepare comments about debris removal, downed trees and property maintenance.
Pritchard noted the county’s action plan is posted on the county housing and community development website and said residents who want to speak at the Board of County Commissioners meeting can sign up to testify. He mentioned a July 15 commissioners’ meeting date as the likely hearing and urged residents to put concerns on the record so recovery funds address local needs.
