The Battle Creek Public Schools Board of Education on Monday approved final amended budgets for the 2024–25 school year and set preliminary general and supplemental budgets for 2025–26.
Board members heard a staff presentation that said the budget presented June 9 had no substantive changes and that the district remains in balance for 2024–25. The staff presenter asked the board to approve both the final amended 2024–25 budget and the preliminary 2025–26 budget.
Motions to approve the final 2024–25 general fund amendment and the 2024–25 supplemental fund amendment, and to set the 2025–26 preliminary general and supplemental budgets, were moved and supported by trustees and adopted by voice vote with no recorded roll-call opposition. The board voted to approve each item by unanimous voice vote when asked, saying “yes” to each motion.
The board did not provide additional line‑item detail during the motions beyond the packet materials and the presenter’s summary; board discussion at the meeting did not change the proposed totals. The superintendent’s office will post the approved amended budget and the preliminary 2025–26 budget documents with the board packet materials for public review.
Budget approvals are procedural steps that allow the district to close the current fiscal year and begin planning for the next one; final adoption of the 2025–26 budgets will follow the district’s public posting and further board action as required by Michigan law and district practice.
The board moved on after the budget votes to other business on the agenda.
