Three newly elected directors sworn in; Deb Bridges re-elected chair, Jeremy Hayden chosen vice chair

The Newberg School District Board of Directors administered oaths of office to three newly elected directors and completed its annual leadership elections during its July 1 meeting.

Newly elected directors took the oath at the start of the session. The transcript records the oath language read aloud by each director as they affirmed support for the U.S. and Oregon constitutions and district policies. Those who recited the oath identified themselves in the record as Andy Byerly, Celeste Jones and Aubrey Nichols. The board clerk collected election certifications and asked the directors to sign their paperwork after the oath.

The board then held its leadership elections, a statutory action the board must complete no later than its first regular meeting after the election. The acting chair invited nominations and, following the nomination period, the board voted to elect Deb Bridges to serve a second consecutive year as board chair. The motion to elect Bridges passed by unanimous voice vote. The board also elected Jeremy Hayden as vice chair after Hayden nominated himself and a colleague seconded the nomination; the vice chair motion likewise passed unanimously.

Board members briefly discussed the mechanics of the nominations and voting process during the meeting and confirmed that a subsequent formal motion would be entered into the record (motions to elect were offered by board members and seconded during the session). The board’s appointments of chair and vice chair take effect immediately and will guide leadership and committee assignments for the 2025–26 year.
