Waupaca chain skiers, city band and historical tours highlighted during public input

Community members used the July 1 Waupaca Common Council public-input period to promote local Fourth of July events, including water-ski shows at the Veterans Home and the city band concert at the bandstand.
Colin Dykstra, speaking during public input, invited residents to attend the Chain Skiers’ performances at the Veterans Home over the holiday weekend and noted children’s performances begin at 5:30 p.m., with the main show at 6 p.m. He said the group will also compete at the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show at Lake Wazija and that the historical society is offering tours of the commandant’s house after shows to raise awareness and funds for restoration. "Come watch them," Dykstra urged, describing the group’s collaboration with Parks and Recreation and the Chamber.
Laura Colbert, parks and recreation director, confirmed the city band concert will take place at the bandstand on July 4 at 7 p.m., and that other Friday bandstand shows will resume at South Park. Mayor Brian Smith reminded attendees that city offices and the library will be closed on July 4, that the parade begins at 10 a.m., and that fireworks at Shadow Park begin at dusk.
