Board approves updated early‑childhood counselor job description, compensation update and several personnel actions

The San Felipe‑del Rio CISD Board of Trustees on June 30 approved updates to an early‑childhood counselor job description and evaluation forms to align with district counselor positions, approved an update to the 2025–26 district compensation plan and approved personnel actions including new hires and a speech‑language pathologist assistant.

A staff member explained the early‑childhood counselor job description had not been updated previously to align with counselor duties and compliance standards; Miss Hernandez said the new description aligns that position with elementary and high‑school counseling job descriptions. Trustees had no objection and approved the recommended job description and evaluation forms.

In a related personnel item, the board approved an administrative update to the 2025–26 compensation plan to add the Deputy Superintendent pay range (pay grade 10) after the Texas Association of School Boards provided the range. The administration recommended approval and the board carried the motion.

After an executive session held under policy 551.074 and 551.071, the board returned to open session and approved resignations, retirements and new hires presented in closed session. The administration recommended and the board approved the following new personnel: Samantha Rios, pre‑kindergarten teacher at Irene Cardwell Elementary; Andrea Flores, kindergarten bilingual teacher at Buena Vista Elementary; Jamie Vega, second‑grade teacher at Buena Vista Elementary; Daisy Jones, fourth‑grade teacher at Seneca Hills Elementary; and Stephanie Lopez, special education co‑teacher at Garfield Middle School. The board also approved Fernanda De Los Santos as a speech‑language pathologist assistant in special education.

All personnel approvals were made by motion and carried; the board did not discuss employment terms in open session.
