Joliet council approves consent agenda: water, sewer, First Due inspection fee and several resolutions
Summary
At its July 1 meeting the council approved a consent agenda that included engineering contracts for a district metered area and sanitary sewer rehab, payment to First Due for web-based fire inspection services, change orders and resolutions including stadium netting and an honorary street name.
The Joliet City Council on July 1 approved consent-agenda items and several resolutions covering water and sewer engineering, one-time payments, construction change orders and partnerships with local organizations.
Major consent items approved on the agenda included:
- A professional services agreement with Kavanaugh and Associates PA for the district metered area design and implementation project in the amount of $155,428.70 (Council Memo 376-25).
- A professional services agreement with RJN Group, Inc. for the 2026 sanitary sewer rehabilitation program in the amount of $114,100 (Council Memo 377-25).
- Amendment No. 1 to Strand Associates Inc. for on-call wastewater treatment engineering in the amount of $30,000 (Council Memo 378-25).
- Final change orders and deductions for water main projects, including a deduction of $6,757.66 for Guernsey Park Phase 5B (CAMCO) and a deduction of $807,418.80 for Varnado Park Water Main Improvements (Steve Spies Construction) as presented (Council Memos 379-25 and 380-25).
- Payment to Locality Media, DBA First Due, for web-based fire inspection services in the amount of $112,793.51 (Council Memo 381-25).
Other resolutions adopted separately included an intergovernmental agreement with Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 for a school resource officer program (Council Memo 389-25); a sponsorship agreement with Pabst Brewing Company for a promotional event at Slammers Stadium (Council Memo 392-25); an MOU with Joliet Community Baseball and Entertainment LLC (the Joliet Slammers) for stadium netting (Council Memo 393-25); and a resolution approving a dedication of 0.019 acre portion of Oldcastle Road as public right-of-way to accommodate traffic signal work.
The council also approved a resolution authorizing an agreement between the city and the Joliet Fire Department Cares Foundation, and adopted an honorary street name designation for Staff Sergeant Jose Duenas.
All consent items listed as Council Memos 376-25 through 381-25 were approved together by motion and roll call. The meeting minutes show the council carried the consent agenda vote with the recorded ayes from members present.
