The superintendent told the Harrison County Schools Board of Education that the district—s benefits-card rollout with vendor Bento completed its first official day with 3,567 employees enrolled.
"We've successfully got 3,567 people enrolled," the superintendent said, adding that because of the scale of the rollout "there's going to be some glitches" as providers and the vendor complete integrations. Staff asked employees to contact the district benefits team rather than posting questions on social media.
Staff said some providers have not yet completed sign-up steps: the district maintained a provider list on an employee website and said participating providers were being asked to complete a Microsoft form and were being added to that list. Amanda Sims was identified in the meeting as a contact available to answer questions.
Board discussion touched on specific benefit details mentioned by staff during the rollout: an item in the presentation referenced $1,500 per member per year and a $1,500 LASIK lifetime benefit; staff said the district's overall benefit levels had not changed in the vendor transition. There was also a point of confusion about vision network labeling; staff said the vision plan is "powered by VSP," and staff was working with the vendor to correct individual provider listings when callers reported mismatches.
Superintendent and staff urged employees with provider questions to call the benefits team; the vendor and district staff said they were contacting providers such as Walmart and Sam—s Club to confirm participation.
