The Anchor Bay School District board approved a multi‑year agreement June 25 with the New Baltimore Police Department to provide a full‑time school resource officer (SRO) eight hours a day for approximately 180 school days per year.

District staff said language was added after finance-committee review to allow a prorated charge if the SRO is unavailable and to require consistency so the same officer reports to the schools rather than rotating shifts that could leave gaps in coverage. Todd Rathbun and others said the contract will serve Lighthouse, Bridal School North and Ashley and that the negotiated cost is comparable to or lower than similar arrangements in neighboring jurisdictions.

Board members thanked New Baltimore Chief Blackburn and district staff for reaching the agreement, and the board approved the contract during a roll-call vote.
