The Finance Committee on June 30 approved declaring several city vehicles and miscellaneous fire-department equipment surplus and authorized their sale.
Staff (Fleet Maintenance and Fire Department representatives) told the committee the items included a 2016 Chevy Tahoe, a 2015 International 7,300, a 2000 GMC Sierra four-wheel drive and miscellaneous fire equipment that had reached end of service life or required costly repairs. The fire equipment included out-of-service hose that had reached expiry and had been replaced.
A motion to approve the surplus sales was made and seconded; the committee recorded the vote as “Aye. 3 to 0.” Staff said items were no longer worth repairing and replacements had already been procured where needed.
