Committee approves change order with Hixson Consulting for city hall and parking garage restoration

The Homewood City Finance Committee on June 30 approved a change order to Hixson Consulting to provide additional consulting services for the city hall envelope and parking garage restoration project.
City staff said additional items were discovered during restoration and the consultant developed itemized scopes of work to address those issues while the larger project is ongoing. Staff clarified that the change-order request did not ask for new funds; the additional consultant services are already budgeted and the contract will cover work to take the project to completion. The superintendent reported that recently poured concrete will require approximately 30 days to cure and staff expects the construction to be substantially complete by July 31.
Committee members moved and seconded the motion; the committee approved the change order by voice vote (3-0). Staff said a few remaining spots of work remain on the concrete and that the change order is intended to ensure all outstanding scopes are covered by the consultant through project closeout.
The committee recorded no increased budget request at this time and directed staff to proceed with execution of the agreement consistent with the existing project budget.
