District to roll out SmartPass electronic hall‑pass system in 2025–26

Assistant principals and building leaders led the multi‑level review. Administrators said about 3,000 schools nationwide use SmartPass and that the product offered robust back‑end reporting for MTSS teams and building safety. Pilot teachers reported the system was easy for students to use and offered controls to limit excessive out‑of‑class passes.
The board did not vote on the selection at the meeting; district leaders said implementation planning is underway and that the system should be operational for the 2025–26 school year. Implementation work will include technical setup, teacher training and coordination with student information systems.
Administrators noted the tool will help staff track student locations in large buildings with many doors and to build instructional time efficiencies, particularly at the high school with roughly 2,400 students and dozens of entry points.
The district asked the board for continued support of operational planning and will return with implementation updates and timeline details.
