Northville board adopts i‑Ready assessment and personalized instruction platform

Pilot administrators reported that teachers appreciated i‑Ready’s parent reports, classroom grouping tools and built‑in accommodations that follow a student login.
“Because it can be used supplementally with our board‑adopted materials, teachers liked how it supported instructional groupings,” said a member of the central office (presentation materials included in the board packet). Board members also noted NWEA’s recent changes in ownership and product strategy as a factor in the review.
The motion’s stated contract amount was read aloud during the meeting but the spoken figure was unclear on the record; the administration provided supporting documentation in the board packet. Administrators said the quoted price includes teacher training for K–8 and implementation supports.
Board discussion also covered related instructional resources. The district announced that Wayne-based licensing would cover the ELA portion of Newsela for the district; social‑studies content availability and Khan Academy options were discussed as separate items.
District leaders said they expect i‑Ready to be available to teachers and students in the 2025–26 school year and to be used for diagnostics, progress monitoring and personalized learning paths. The board approved the motion by a 7-0 vote.
