The Norwalk City Public Works Committee on July 1 authorized a third amendment to the city's on-call drainage contract with M. Rondono, Inc., for work on various drainage locations, increasing the contract sum by $900,306.75 and authorizing a 10% contingency of $90,030.68.
Jim Meehan, Department of Public Works, said M. Rondono is the city's on-call drainage contractor and has been used extensively for pre-paving operations, isolated drainage repairs and other small capital drainage efforts. "We're simply looking to add funds to the current contract because we do have a lot of work for them," Meehan said. Unit prices remain unchanged; the amendment adds funding using the existing contract unit-price schedule.
The committee approved the amendment unanimously and noted that the funds will cover anticipated drainage work tied to paving preparation and small isolated projects around the city. Staff said no unit price changes are involved and that the amendment extends available funds under the current contract to cover the workload.
