Cabarrus school board moves to closed session to consult attorney and discuss personnel

Rob Walter, board chair of the Cabarrus County Board of Education, closed the open session of a June work meeting and asked the board for a motion to convene a closed session "to consult with an attorney and preserve the attorney-client privilege pursuant to General Statute 143-318.11(a)(3) and to consider confidential personnel matters pursuant to General Statute 143-318.11(a)(6)."
Pam Escobar, a board member, moved to go into closed session; another member seconded the motion. Chair Walter called for a voice vote: "All in favor, say aye." No member spoke in opposition, and the board entered closed session. The board did not disclose matters discussed in closed session in the public record.
The chair told viewers the board would reconvene in public at a later date and reminded attendees that the next public meeting is scheduled for July 14.
