Police report: two academy graduates, junior police academy and street closure for July fireworks

Councilman Finestrella reported that recruits Casquerano and another recruit completed the Union County Police Academy and are currently in the Commonwealth Police Department field-training program. Finestrella also announced the borough’s junior police academy, scheduled June 23–27, which the department says provides youths with firsthand experience of police work including traffic stops, drill, ceremony and physical training.
Finestrella said the borough’s boulevard paving work is complete and reminded motorists to stop for pedestrians and watch for children playing near roadways. He also confirmed the police department will close Fourteenth Street from the Boulevard to Monroe for the fireworks event on Sunday, June 29.
No formal council action was required for these operational and event-planning updates.
