Council adopts flag-display ordinance; schedules public hearings for stop sign and construction-fee changes

The Kenilworth Borough Council on June 18 adopted an ordinance establishing a protocol for flag displays and introduced two additional ordinances for public hearing and adoption at the July 2 meeting.

Council opened the public comment period on Ordinance 2025-06 (flag display) and, seeing no speakers, closed the hearing. A motion to adopt Ordinance 2025-06 carried on a roll-call vote; the ordinance was approved.
Council also voted to introduce Ordinance 2025-O8, which would amend Chapter 190 (Vehicles and Traffic) to add a four-way stop at the intersection of Sheridan and Eleventh Street. The council approved introduction and scheduled a public hearing and adoption of that ordinance for the July 2 meeting at 6 p.m.
Separately, the council introduced Ordinance 2025-O9 to update Uniform Construction Code fees in Chapter 91 (Fees and Licenses). That measure also will be scheduled for a public hearing and adoption at the July 2 council meeting.
All three ordinances were handled in accordance with the borough’s procedural rules; public comment on the flag ordinance produced no speakers and the two introduction items were advanced to the July 2 hearing date.
