Kenilworth council to introduce capital budget July 2; CFO reports modest grant increases

Borough CFO told the council that preliminary Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) awards exceeded earlier expectations. The CFO said the senior services award rose from a $15,000 appropriation to an amount described in the meeting as slightly higher (the transcript shows a partial figure), and that the senior window-replacement award increased from $30,000 to $33,500. The CFO also said the capital program includes several grant-funded items and that details will be presented when the budget is introduced on July 2.
The administrative officer and CFO described a United Way–supported summer youth program that will place three interns at borough departments for roughly 20 hours per week; one intern will be assigned to public works, one will rotate among borough offices and one will work in the construction/building office. The CFO also reminded residents about an American Heart Association CPR/AED training session scheduled for June 30 and noted upcoming proclamations and recognitions for local Eagle Scouts.
Council members said they will review the proposed capital program and related grant details at the July 2 meeting and asked staff to bring formal budget documents for introduction and public hearing scheduling.
