During public comment on May 20, resident Rita Labruto questioned the planned sale of township‑owned lots she described as unbuildable slivers and raised concerns about the impact of youth tournaments on Adams Avenue fields and nearby neighborhoods.
Labruto said at least one township lot was marketed as unbuildable and asked whether any sale would be contingent on merging the purchased lot with the buyer’s existing property so the transaction could not later be used to subdivide or profit. She also said Cranford Baseball Softball League (CBSL) tournaments have outgrown Adams Avenue, causing frequent parking and driveway access problems for nearby residents.
The township attorney replied that any sale would require the block and lots to be merged into a single parcel and that deed restrictions or other measures would be added to prevent subsequent subdivision. He also said recreation planning is underway and that suggestions to move some games to other fields (including the high school) would be raised in that planning process.
Labruto urged reducing the number of games at Adams Avenue and using other available fields to lessen neighborhood disruption. The committee did not take formal action during the meeting but noted the attorney’s response and said the recreation planning process will consider resident input.
