Board ratifies intergovernmental agreement with Eastern Arizona College; price adjusted to current costs

County Administrator Derek Rupier presented an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with Eastern Arizona College to continue college and community classes in Greenlee County. Rupier said the county has a long-standing relationship with Eastern Arizona and that the college requested an increase to reflect current costs.
Rupier said the previous annual amount of $35,000 had not changed for many years and that Eastern Arizona requested an increase to $45,000; the county attorney and the college's contracts administrator negotiated contract wording. Because classes had already been provided in fiscal year 2025, Rupier recommended approving the IGA retroactively for FY25 and adopting the updated agreement going forward. He said the county had budgeted for the cost.
A motion to enter into the IGA with Eastern Arizona College was moved, seconded and approved by the board; staff will return with an IGA for fiscal year 2026 and review advisory committee appointments related to the program.
