Under the IGA, staffing and costs were allocated based on the number of days the officer will serve the district during the school year; the SRO assignment runs through the academic calendar (roughly a nine‑month period — 184 days — with the officer returning to county duties during summer breaks). Officials said the arrangement is intended to yield full use of the officer during school days.
Board members also said work is underway to expand SRO coverage to other schools in the county, and the sheriff's office is engaged with Duncan Schools on a similar effort.
The board moved, seconded and approved the IGA; the motion passed with an affirmative voice vote.
