A Ridgewood resident told the council during public comment on June 9 that cars frequently block his driveway and a fire hydrant near Benjamin Franklin Middle School and asked the village to paint the curb to deter parking.
Jerry D'Andrea, who said he lives at 340 North Van Dean, brought a handout showing photographs of vehicles parked at the hydrant and said restriping was not completed after recent repaving. “What I'm asking for is there any way that someone could look into this? And if it's possible to paint the yellow line in front of that fire hydrant, I would appreciate it,” D'Andrea said.
Village staff told him to provide a cell number to Village Manager Keith Kaczmark for coordination; the manager said staff would take care of the matter and contact the resident. No formal action was recorded at the workshop beyond the manager’s offer to assign staff to follow up.
