Iroquois County’s Finance Committee on June 30 reviewed departmental budget presentations for fiscal 2026 and was repeatedly reminded that unresolved labor negotiations could materially change salary and benefits estimates in the proposed budget.
Committee members heard multiple department presentations and were told salary projections hinge on the outcome of contract negotiations. The committee’s chair said negotiations were ongoing and that a meeting between county negotiators and the unions was expected in early July; the chair asked members to continue reviewing departmental requests and to reconvene in August to compare notes.
The committee rescheduled its September meeting for Sept. 3 at 10 a.m. by motion and vote. At the end of the meeting, the committee approved claims and adjourned by recorded voice votes and roll call where indicated.
Committee staff said financial reports will remain a month behind because of bank-statement timing and internal processing; staff said they are working to provide timely month-to-month reports and that they will include comparative historical data where feasible. The committee did not adopt a final FY2026 budget at the meeting; members discussed assumptions to use for revenue forecasting and asked staff to seek more precise state revenue projections after July 1.
