Holmen Middle School addition nearly complete; entrance work and road shift continue

Brad, the project superintendent, said, "Well, right now, we're about 95% complete on this new addition here that we're standing in now. We had cleaners come in. We have the new doors coming in right now. They're being installed and in a couple weeks we'll have the new furniture and get that all set in place." He said crews expect the remainder of the summer to be used to "punch" outstanding items and "basically have this area shut down."
The superintendent reported plans to start the building's chiller next week so the space can be cooled. He said interior finishes are nearly done — "All the cabinetry is in, the flooring is about 95% complete" — and that new doors still need to be hung.
Work outside includes grading for sidewalks and a new road alignment. "We did move the road about 10 feet further away from the building to give it some more breathing room for the trucks that come by," Brad said. He added crews are using excavators to bring the site up to grade in preparation for sidewalks and the new roadway.
On the main entrance, Brad said demolition of the existing entry is largely complete — "We're about, say, probably 85% done with demo" — and crews are installing cold-formed framing, sheeting and a new curtain wall system with panels to restore the facade.
Mr. Turner closed the update by thanking the superintendent and noting the district will provide another update in the fall. No decisions, motions or formal actions were taken during the update; the session was informational.
