Board authorizes auditor to sign state cybersecurity MOU to deploy CrowdStrike on elections computers
Summary
The Board approved an MOU allowing the county auditor’s office to participate in the state’s CrowdStrike endpoint protection deployment for auditor systems used in elections; the county will retain Trellix on other county machines.
David Bayer, the county Chief Information Officer, told the board the matter was a renewal MOU with the state to provide CrowdStrike endpoint detection and response software for the auditor’s computers used for elections.
Bayer described the arrangement as a renewal of a prior agreement and said there was no county expenditure tied directly to the MOU; the contract start date will begin once the auditor signs. He said the county uses Trellix (formerly FireEye) on other county machines and that the county is satisfied with that product for non-auditor systems.
After brief discussion, the board voted to approve the MOU and authorized the auditor to sign on behalf of the county.
