Missoula County commissioners approved a qualifying resolution allowing the county to pursue Trails Bond Program funds for the Rock Creek Confluence project, submitted by 5 Valleys Land Trust.
"This project is the Rock Creek Confluence project. This was submitted by 5 Valleys Land Trust, and it is for trail and trail facility improvements at the Rock Creek Confluence property," said Nick, the presenter. He described the work as including "building segments of universally accessible trail, segments of non universally accessible trail that will lead to the river as well as trail facility improvements as expanded parking lot, privacy partition and other trail facilities." Nick told commissioners the property sits at the confluence of Rock Creek and the Clark Fork River, just south of the I‑90 interchange.
Commissioners asked about Trails Bond Program fund availability and were told "We still have 1.3 out of the 3,000,000 total from the 2014 bond," a staff member said. The qualifying resolution was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff said this is a first step and they will return with a formal presentation at an approval resolution hearing later in July.
The qualifying resolution does not authorize disbursement of bond funds; it permits the county to seek Trails Bond Program funding for the project. Detailed design, budget and funding commitments will be presented at a later hearing.
