Missoula County approves $57,855 contract for Clinton Community Park pavilion

Missoula County commissioners approved a professional services agreement to build a 720-square-foot, open-air, universally accessible picnic pavilion at Clinton Community Park.

The pavilion, to be sited next to the skate park, will be designed, fabricated and assembled by Bad Goat Forest Products of Missoula. "The scope of this construction contract will be for the design, the fabrication, and the assembly of a 720 square foot, open air, universally accessible picnic pavilion," said Bethany, a Missoula County Parks, Trails and Recreation staff member, during the presentation. She said, "The total for this contract comes out to $57,855." The item was on the consent agenda and was approved by voice vote; commissioners responded "Aye."

The presenter said primary funding will come from the 2024 and 2025 cycles of the Community Parks and Recreation Grants Program and that the award will be matched by contributions from Friends in Missoula Parks. She told commissioners that construction is anticipated to be completed by October of this year.

The contract authorizes design, fabrication and assembly only; county staff did not present additional engineering documents or construction phasing at this meeting. Commissioners did not appear to amend the contract on the floor and no conditions or contingencies beyond the described funding sources were recorded during the motion.

County staff closed the item by inviting questions; none were raised and the motion was carried. The project is part of the Clinton Community Park master plan work, and staff said they will proceed to contract execution and move toward construction this year.
