Deltona schedules Fourth of July celebration with fireworks and family activities

The City of Deltona will hold its Fourth of July celebration at Dewey Oboster Park on July 4, with activities beginning at 5 p.m. and fireworks scheduled to begin around 9:15 p.m., city staff announced in the weekly community roundup.

The event will feature live music, food trucks, zip lines, rock climbing, laser tag, face painting and vendors. City Hall will be closed on the July 4 holiday and most city staff will be off; government buildings are scheduled to reopen the following Monday, the announcement said.

A City of Deltona staff member made the announcement as part of the city’s weekly roundup of community events for the week of July 2 through July 6. The roundup also listed Deltona Public Library programs scheduled during the same period.

Library offerings include a Family Quick Crafts drop-in program for children and caregivers on Wednesday at 3 p.m.; an adults-only computer boot camp covering mouse and keyboard basics on Thursday at 11 a.m.; a tabletop games session at 1 p.m. Saturday described as a welcoming space to learn and play; and a chess club meeting Sunday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

All events were presented as open to the public; the announcement described the tabletop games session as welcoming to new players and the chess club as for “all ages and skill levels.” The roundup did not specify any admission fees, registration requirements, or contact information.

City staff noted that most municipal offices and services will pause on the July 4 holiday and resume when government buildings reopen the following Monday.
