At the June 3 meeting administrators reported an improved district outcome from the annual North Carolina Department of Public Instruction school bus maintenance review and announced administrative staffing and scheduling updates.
The district reported that bus‑garage staff received a score of 16.33 on the DPI inspection this year, down from 29.6 the previous year; the presenter noted a regional average of about 34 and singled out the transportation staff member Joey and the transportation department for praise. The lower score was described as an improvement (the presenter characterized the inspections as merit‑based where lower is better).
Administrators also announced that Justin Holt will become principal at West Carter High School on June 23. The district said it will not hold a regular July board meeting and that the next regular meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m.; staff said a special called meeting will be scheduled later in June to address year‑end financial matters and will be publicly noticed per requirements.
These items were reported as informational; no formal board votes were recorded on these announcements during the meeting.
