Jeremy Day, executive director of business affairs, said contractors cited the amount of fill required to level the sloped site as a primary cost driver. The district plans two public notices with a June 11 bid opening and expects the work to take about two months once started. Day said no general fund dollars are being used for the parking-lot project and that the construction season provides time to complete the work before winter.
On other facilities items, Day reported the central-office interior renovation (CO renovation) has resumed with architecture/engineering firm SHP coordinating work. Athletic projects include additional quotes for wind shear/height measurements and a phased overhaul of the baseball field, with grass work scheduled for late fall to reduce summer water needs. Permitting for a scoreboard at the stadium has started with the vendor providing renderings as part of the permit submission.
Board members asked for cost and timing details. Day said the parking-lot rebid schedule will include two newspaper advertisements and a June 11 bid opening; he also said he will circulate scoreboard renderings to the board once available.
