The Cannon Falls School Board approved a facility agreement with the Cannon Valley Senior Center that sets a $1,000 per month rental payment due the first of each month for use of district space in fiscal 2025–26.
Jeff told the board the group had planned to present to the board but could not attend; the administration and the senior center negotiated the updated agreement earlier. He explained the district modeled a full‑cost estimate (roughly $4,000 per month) and then offered a discounted monthly fee of $1,000 to allow continued community use while recognizing district budget constraints.
Board members said they value the senior center's contributions — including programs such as book buddies and scholarships — and that charging a modest fee preserves services while ensuring fairness to students and district operations. The senior center had already signed its part of the agreement, the administration said, and will present more details at a future board meeting when rescheduled.
The board approved the agreement by voice vote.
