Lake Forest Park Municipal Court staff and Judge Jennifer Grant used the Jan. 30 remote infraction calendar to walk participants through remote-hearing logistics, evidence submission and payment options.
The court clerk conducted roll call, asked remote participants to identify themselves and to rename Zoom entries for clarity. Participants were repeatedly asked to mute microphones and turn off cameras until their cases were called.
Judge Grant set out how evidence should be submitted when participants join by phone: she posted the court email in the Zoom chat and instructed defendants to email photos of insurance cards or other proof to lfpcourt@cityoflsp.gov. When a defendant sent proof during the calendar, Grant reviewed the Progressive insurance card and entered a dismissal upon payment of court costs.
The judge also explained payment options and time-payment minimums. In one mitigation the court offered a reduced total fine and said a defendant could pay in installments; the judge noted a $25 monthly minimum payment for payment plans when discussing a reduction and explained that payments generally would be invoiced and mailed within about a week. For deferred findings, the judge explained a typical structure: a six-month continuance, a $175 fee and the requirement of no new moving violations for dismissal at the end of the period.
Clerk and court staff assisted with renaming Zoom participants to show full names and with phone users who needed to unmute by pressing star-6; staff also advised participants without in-Zoom chat access how to hand-write the court email address.
Ending: The remote calendar concluded after the court completed its afternoon docket; the court noted mailed invoices and emailed evidence would be processed by court staff and that administrative follow-up would occur as needed.
