The board retroactively amended prior approval for a boys basketball trip, after a tournament cancellation led the team to join a different event in Jackson, Mississippi; the superintendent described the change as time-sensitive and said he made an executive decision and was asking the board to ratify that amendment in the minutes.
The board approved in principle a mediation agreement in pending legal action; transcript language indicates final approval will come when the agreement is completed.
On student services, trustees approved an amended agreement between Pelham City Schools and Glenwood Incorporated for a residential school placement for a student transferring from another system in the Birmingham area. The board recorded that Glenwood provides “all services, living services, total all the services necessary for a student,” and that the district anticipates applying for a state “high cost” grant to offset the expense.
Finally, trustees approved teacher assignments for Pelham City Schools’ kindergarten camp and literacy camp; the superintendent said a presentation on participation and scores related to summer programs would be made at the next regular board meeting.
