The Santaquin City Council voted unanimously Monday to adopt Resolution No. 0608, the city’s budget amendment No. 6, to close the 2024–25 fiscal year and reconcile line-item spending.
The measure, described by the council’s presiding officer as “the closure of the year” and as “required by the state,” adjusts budget lines so no expenditure exceeds 100 percent before the fiscal year ends at midnight, the presiding officer said. The council opened a formal public hearing on the amendment and, after no public comments, closed the hearing and approved the resolution on a voice vote.
Shannon Hoffman, a city staff member, told the council the amendment “trues up the entire year” and that the packet included a summary of the changes. Hoffman said staff prepared the amendment to ensure the city stays within authorized spending limits and offered to answer questions; council members said they had no substantive concerns.
The ordinance received affirmative voice votes from the presiding officer and councilmembers present. No dissenting votes were recorded in the meeting minutes provided during the session.
The adoption completes the city’s formal year-end budget reconciliation for 2024–25; council members did not request further study or amendments during the meeting.
