Morris Township committee adopts series of capital, fee and open-space ordinances

The Township Committee of Morris adopted nine ordinances at its May 21 meeting covering administrative fees, capital projects and utilities, the township announced during the public hearing and roll-call votes.
Ordinances adopted included a salaries update for nonunion personnel (11-25) and an increase to towing and storage charges (12-25). The committee approved several bond ordinances financing capital projects:
- Ordinance 13-25: bond ordinance for various capital improvements, appropriating $3,562,486 and authorizing $2,768,347 in bonds or notes; the ordinance notes expected grants of $648,436 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation. - Ordinance 14-25: bond ordinance for swimming pool improvements, appropriating $241,000 and authorizing $228,950 in bonds or notes. - Ordinance 15-25: bond ordinance for various sewer capital improvements, appropriating $2,302,500 and authorizing $2,187,375 in bonds or notes.
The committee also adopted ordinances appropriating available capital balances for non-bonded capital needs (Ordinance 16-25, $460,600 from the general capital improvement fund; Ordinance 17-25, $1,560,050 from the sewer utility capital improvement fund), approved $100,000 from the parking utility capital fund for security camera upgrades (Ordinance 18-25), and authorized $314,500 from the Open Space Trust Fund for open-space improvements (Ordinance 19-25).
All nine ordinances were approved by roll-call vote at the meeting. The committee introduced Ordinance 20-25, an easement agreement with the Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority related to 15 Jean Street; the public hearing and final consideration for Ordinance 20-25 is set for the June 18 meeting.
The ordinances are available in full in the township agenda center and will be published as required after the mayor’s certification.
