Troy Council approves fiscal year 2024–25 cleanup budget amendments

Chief Financial Officer Robert Malzak told the council the amendments address a limited number of departments that exceeded budgeted appropriations; most accounts remain under budget and the city expects a positive fiscal year driven by higher interest income and some open positions. Malzak said the presentation shows a $450,000 net use of the general fund balance, a choice city staff made instead of offsetting with projected additional interest income.
Council members asked clarifying questions about the city’s overall budget position and the frequency of being under budget; Malzak said the city is poised for another strong fiscal year and that the amendments are a housekeeping step to avoid audit findings. Council member Chamberlain Krenge moved the resolution, Council member Brooks supported it, and the motion carried unanimously.
City staff said the amendments include entries for the General Fund and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) accounts and that Finance and departmental staff will implement the account adjustments and report as required under state audit procedures.
