Board members said they supported Wolf personally and acknowledged she has been performing many of the functions in an acting capacity, but several members asked for more transparency in the hiring process and more complete materials to be furnished to the full board before a confirmation vote. The chairman and other members said tabling would allow the new selectman to be brought up to speed and give the board an opportunity to reach a unanimous confirmation.
At the meeting a written opinion from the town attorney was read into the record and summarized for the board: under Hebron’s charter the town manager has exclusive appointment power for municipal employees, while the Board of Selectmen retains confirmation authority and may accept or reject an appointee; the letter also noted the board’s confirmation power arises from charter sections cited by the town attorney. Selectmen did not confirm or reject the appointment at the meeting; the item will return to the July 10 agenda for final action.
