Councilor Beebe reported that the hearing generated “a lot of back and forth and a lot of conversation” and that the commission continued the public hearing; she encouraged residents to review the draft minutes and packet materials and to follow the matter at the commission’s July 10 meeting. The proposal was introduced by a private citizen and is not a developer-driven change, Beebe said.
The proposal affects the town’s entire residential zone; councilors noted the broad geographic scope and urged residents to read the planner’s explanation and the commission packet. The planning commission’s recommendation and any subsequent referral back to the council will follow normal zoning-review procedures.
What’s next: the Planning Commission will reconvene the hearing on July 10; the council will review any recommendation after the commission completes its proceedings.
