Council members said the grant is competitive and does not require a local match. "It's a competitive grant. If we get it, we get it. If we don't, we don't. There's no match," the mayor said in response to a council question about matching funds.
Council members voted unanimously to allow the application. Officials said the award, if received, would help offset town costs associated with the Henry Park tennis-court project. No contract or award was accepted at the meeting; the vote only authorized application and signature authority for the mayor or his designee.
