The Vernon Town Council voted unanimously to endorse the nomination of Dr. Patricia Buxton to fill a term vacated by Brian Mottola. The council stated Dr. Buxton’s term will begin June 18, 2025, and end Nov. 10, 2025.
The endorsement came as a motion by a council member and was seconded; members offered brief remarks welcoming Buxton. "I have gotten to know Patricia, and I have seen the work she's done... her level of expertise and knowledge was a real asset," said Council member Winkler. Another council member said every encounter with Buxton had been "nothing but more pleasurable."
The motion was seconded by John and the vote was recorded as unanimous. Council members noted Buxton’s prior board experience and expressed appreciation for her service. There was no public opposition recorded during the meeting.
The appointment fills a short-term vacancy; the council presented the motion to complete the remainder of the vacated term and approved it during the meeting.
