MADISON — Superintendent (Dr.) Cook on Tuesday described end-of-year senior events and the district’s transition as Ryerson and Jeffrey elementary schools close and students move to other buildings, including the renovated Brown Elementary School.
Dr. Cook told the Board of Education that the district will provide buses and coordinated cap-and-gown distribution so seniors can walk through their elementary schools as part of a farewell tradition. He said staff from Island Avenue and other schools will participate so students see familiar faces during the walk-through.
“Students on Monday will get their cap and gowns. They will get board buses to the 3 different schools and walk through it. It's a great event,” Dr. Cook said. He praised principals and staff for flexibility organizing the activity in a final year when some buildings are closing.
Board members and Superintendent Cook congratulated principals for ceremonies marking the schools’ closings.
