The Wallingford Board of Education on June 2 reviewed two administrative policy changes: a district revision to its expense-reimbursement policy and adoption of a state-directed school climate (bullying) policy package.
District business staff presented revisions to policy 4133/4233 to streamline meal reimbursements for out-of-state travel by using a federal per-diem calculation instead of individualized itemized receipts. The system will require staff to input city and number of travel days into a district website to compute a prorated daily reimbursement, with a standardized district form to be used by all employees.
The board also reviewed a Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE)-approved school climate policy and its associated regulation and forms. Presenters said the state General Assembly enacted changes to bullying-related statutory provisions (referred to in the meeting as Connecticut General Statute section 10-222), directing CABE to develop a model school climate policy and for boards to adopt that policy by July 1, 2025. The district presented the model policy, regulation and forms and indicated adopting them meets the statutory obligation.
