Board approves $234,543 from rental fund for auditorium and gym repairs; district details summer capital projects

Board member Kate made the motion; the motion carried. District officials said the rental fund had a balance of about $510,000 before the approval and will be about $276,000 afterward, leaving funds available for future rentals‑related projects.
Facilities staff outlined larger summer projects that will continue through the year, including: preparation and move‑in for Danbury High School West Campus as DHS shifts programs; replacement of the Ellsworth roof and installation of an elevator at Hayestown (both delayed on material/installation timelines, with some noisy work planned for the school year and final elevator car/roof completion likely into fall); ARPA‑funded additions such as new stadium lights for the high‑school football field and new seating for the Danbury High School auditorium; and multiple flooring, painting and asbestos abatement tasks at Pembroke and other schools.
District staff also described a planned consolidation of records into a new secure filing system and a Voice‑over‑IP (VoIP) phone upgrade to replace aging analog lines. Facilities staff said some work — including elevator cars and final roofing pieces — may not be finished until fall because of contractor and material delays.
Board members asked about funding and sequencing; district staff said the Pembroke, Broadview and Rogers Park work will be paid from rental fund revenues (fees collected from organizations that rent district facilities) and noted a small contingency was included in the project total.
