Next Generation School Building Committee: Norton and Barnum on track and under budget; demolition, construction dates set

FF&E and next steps: Rosenblatt said the architects will meet with working groups beginning immediately — weekly through June 17 — to make initial furniture, fixture & equipment (FF&E) and information-technology selections. The committee expects to prepare detailed proposals over the summer and return for final selections during the fall of 2025.
Budget context and risk management: Rosenblatt told the council the committee and owners’ representatives are monitoring potential cost pressures such as tariffs and inflation. He said virtually all major trade packages are under contract and much of the steel is already installed; contingency language in the construction manager’s guaranteed maximum price could be used to address documented tariff impacts after mitigation efforts and documentation.
