Council forwards three Neighborhood Assistance Act submissions to state after public hearing

The Town of Cheshire Town Council on June 10 held a public hearing and then approved forwarding three local applications to the Connecticut Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA) program for 2025.
Town Manager Sean M. Kimball summarized the program and said the town’s role is ministerial: “This is an annual program. The town's role is, purely ministerial, and, requires approval by the local legislative body, for any submissions.” He listed the three submissions: Community Health Center Association of Connecticut for a workforce‑training enhancement program; Balloonsocket Arts for roofing costs on Building 1; and The Hometown Foundation for a police K‑9 program.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing, and the council voted to forward the three applications to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, which will determine eligibility for Neighborhood Assistance Act tax credits. A council member recused themselves from the vote before consideration; the motion passed by those voting.
