The Connecticut Commission of Pharmacy voted to approve several new pharmacy licenses, a pharmacy relocation and pharmacy remodel plans during a meeting in Hartford.
The commission approved the application of Kava Fusion Connecticut LLC (Wallingford) and Connecticut CVS Pharmacy, LLC (DBA CVS No. 17‑918 in Guilford). The panel also approved the relocation of New Haven Pharmacy Inc. from 374 Grand Avenue to 374 Grand Avenue, Suite B, and approved remodeling plans for Costco (No. 32477, Norwalk). Commissioners said motions to approve were made and seconded and passed by voice vote.
Commission members noted procedural checks performed during applicant interviews, including questions about infusion or compounding activity, whether point‑of‑sale or patient‑identifiable computers will sit outside a licensed pharmacy area, physician ownership and compliance with local and state building codes. Applicants confirmed there would be no controlled substance compounding in several cases, and that HIPAA safeguards would be used when patient data are processed outside the licensed dispensing area.
ShopRite Pharmacy of South Perry did not appear; the commission recorded that the matter would be continued to next month for appearance.
The approvals were routine licensing and facility matters; commissioners said inspections and follow‑up would proceed as needed before final operational clearance.
Less consequential agenda items that drew short presentation and votes included approval of reciprocity and nonresident pharmacy applications reported by staff. Commissioners moved and approved those items without further debate.
The commission concluded the licensing block and moved on to enforcement and other agenda items.
